Garden Detective CD

Garden Detective is aimed at amateur growers and allotment holders but it will also be useful to the nursery and horticultural industry, including smallholders.

What does it offer?

The Garden Detective CD (for IBM-compatible PCs) contains more than 1,200 high quality photographs and line drawings of pests, diseases and weeds and on beneficial species found on over 50 fruit & vegetable crops in the garden. The CD makes it easy to narrow down to the cause of a problem and details the various methods available to solve it.

It covers:

insect pests

slugs and snails

vertebrate pests

nematodes

fungal diseases

bacterial diseases

viruses

weeds

beneficial species

Chemical and non-chemical pest control methods (including the use of biological control agents) are described. The CD is therefore useful for organic and non-organic growers. Pesticides are listed by their active ingredients, not their trade names, as trade names will vary according to where they are purchased. All the chemicals listed are approved under current legislation for use in home gardens, and guidance is given on how to choose the right product.

Users of Garden Detective can download updated control data from the web when new information becomes available.
