Beyond the Backyard

The pack supports the inclusion of justice and global interdependence when studying economic awareness. It suggests how conceptual ideas about economic activity can be made accessible by lively activities, games and people's personal stories. Economic activity from around the world is illustrated in the photographs, ranging from car production in Oxford, to cocoa farming in Brazil.

Photographs, resources and ideas for a wider understanding of economic realities

The Directory of Education Contacts

The Directory of Education Contacts is comissioned by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and is compiled by Business in the Community.

Following the launch in April 2001 of the Learning and Skills Council, providers of education business links have been asked to work together in consortia across the country. These new Education Business Link consortia are based in the 47 Local Learning and Skills Council areas.

These consortia will now provide a first point of contact to schools and business. If you would like to get involved in education business links please contact your local consortium, as detailed in the attached document entitled Education Business Link Consortia. This lists the 47 consortia in England and then lists Education Business Partnerships (EBPs) for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Details of EBPs in England can be found on the National Education Business Partnership Network website.

Further infomation on education business link consortia can be found on the DfES education business links website.

You will also find information on Local Education Authorities, Education Action Zones, Government Offices and National Support organisations. Free.
